Dropil Inc., a US-based crypto firm known for its one-stop platform featuring a suite of cryptocurrency tools which include a trading platform, smart wallet, and arbitrage and predictions features, is the latest company targeted by the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) for its unlicensed Initial Coin Offering (ICO) sale in early 2018 and also for deceiving its investors.

Dropil and its founders are charged with selling securities without a registration or an exemption from registration in violation of Section 5 of the Securities Act of 1933, the antifraud provisions of Section 17(a) of the Securities Act, and fraud under Section 10(b) of the Securities Exchange Act of 1934 and Rule 10b-5.

Dropil’s Insights dashboard contains a wide variety of statistics, including membership figures, total money invested in the platform at any given moment, how each risk class of investments are performing, and in which coins it’s currently allocating its funds.

Dropil was developed with the intention of delivering a platform to the masses that would assist investors in receiving solid returns with minimal investment, in a manner that would provide financial and security benefits with low friction.

Dropil claimed that it had successfully raised $54 million from 34,000 investors in the United States and around the world but, according to the complaint, Dropil actually raised less than $1.9 million from fewer than 2,500 investors.

Dropil also has plans to add premium features in the future, including SMS notifications, text message arbitrage execution, customized alerts for every exchange and coin, and adding Exchange API keys to allow for automatic arbitrage.

Dropil allegedly manufactured fake Dex profitability reports and made payments in the form of DROPs to Dex users, giving the false appearance that Dex was operational and profitable,” the agency said.

Dropil held a private ICO presale from January 24 through February 6, 2018 and a public ICO token sale from February 7 through March 7, 2018.
