Overview of Frontier

Frontier Miles is the frequent-flyer program for Frontier Airlines, replacing the EarlyReturns program, which existed from 2003 to 2018.[108] Frontier Miles can be earned by flying Frontier Airlines, using the Frontier Airlines World MasterCard, or by spending at partner hotels, car rental chains, cruises, and merchants.[109] Frontier Miles can be redeemed for flights, magazine subscriptions, and car rentals.[110] Since February 2019, hotel stays are also part of the redemption options.[111]

Frontier said its Chapter 11 process “reduced its debt by approximately $11 billion and annual interest expense by approximately $1 billion.” Frontier also said it has “liquidity of over $1.3 billion at emergence, creating flexibility to reinvest in fiber network expansion.” Frontier said in a government filing that its total current liabilities, including long-term debt due within one year, are now $7.2 billion, down from $19.2 billion a year ago.

Frontier Airlines significantly increased its service to the airport and declared Cleveland a focus city.[17] Other low-cost airlines which include Spirit Airlines and Allegiant Air began new service to the airport as well, and existing airlines which include American, Delta, and Southwest also increased their number of daily flights and destinations.

Frontier filed for bankruptcy in April 2020 after telling investors that its financial troubles and customer losses were caused by “significant under-investment in fiber deployment and limited enterprise product offerings.” Parts of Frontier’s fiber network were installed by Verizon before Verizon sold a few of its operations to Frontier.

Frontier operates flights to over 100 destinations throughout the United States and 31 international destinations, and employs more than 3,000 staff.[15] The carrier is a subsidiary and operating brand of Indigo Partners, LLC, and maintains a hub at Denver International Airport with numerous focus cities across the US.

Frontier had accepted $283.4 million in annual support over six years to deploy service to 659,587 homes and businesses in 28 states—the company now says it will finish the buildout by the end of 2021, early enough to avoid financial penalties because of a 12-month grace period provided in US law.

Frontier Airlines was the launch customer of the Airbus A318 in 2003.[23] In mid-April 2005, Frontier officially became an all-Airbus fleet, retiring its last Boeing 737.[24] Jeff Potter was appointed CEO in 2002.[22]

How do we prepare our forecasts?

Our forecasts are not generated by an automated routine, and so the exact forecast process varies from day-to-day.In general, our forecast starts with a weighted model blend of the GFS, GFS ensembles, ECMWF (through day 10), ECMWF ensembles (through day 15) and Canadian ensembles.Each of the forecast models undergoes an automated bias correction based on that models forecast weather regime prior to being blended together.So, the ECMWF model, for example, will not be bias corrected the same everywhere when the pattern features a cold western US and warm eastern US as it will be when the pattern features a warm western US and cold eastern US.The bias corrections also vary by forecast day, so day 10 isn’t bias corrected the same as day 2.The weights we use when blending the models together into a single forecast vary by forecast day and from one forecast update to the next.On average, the ECMWF operational and ensemble models are weighted higher than the GFS operational and ensembles as well as the Canadian ensembles since those products generally perform more accurately.Once our base forecast is produced, we make adjustments throughout the 15 day forecast period based on overall pattern expectations, model trends over recent days, and other climate indicators such as the MJO, current and forecast phases of the AO/NAO and other indices.

Are there funding or reimbursement advantages to being considered a frontier area?

Most of the programs that frontier areas can access for grants and enhanced reimbursement are available through
shortage designations, including the Health Professional Shortage Area (HPSA) and Medically Underserved Area
(MUA) designations, rather than through a designation as a frontier area.However, the Health Center Program gives special consideration to
sparsely populated or frontier areas.

What shouldn’t I pack in my bag?

According to Caroline Ford, Board President of the National Center for Frontier Communities (NCFC), Counties
and states that have a large presence of federal government ownership change the economic and health outlook
of frontier communities.Nearly half of all frontier counties (48%) are classified as high poverty with
21%
of those counties having federal lands, as of the 2000 Census.In addition to the high rates of poverty,
frontier communities experience increased distance to healthcare resources, limiting their access.Local tax
dollars typically help support healthcare at the community level; however, frontier counties with lands owned by
the federal government instead receive Payment in Lieu of Taxes (PILT) for those lands.PILT is a
Congressionally-mandated program that often does not provide sufficient resources to support the level of
healthcare and human services the county would desire.In addition, local taxes in areas with national parks and
other tourist destinations are impacted by seasonal employment and migration associated by tourism.Ms.Ford
further states, The seasonal nature of the economy significantly impacts the ability of these communities to
collect and distribute tax revenue, or to maintain stable healthcare services dependent upon volume for
quality and cost effective services.

In 1959, Nissan brought America something they’d never seen before — the midsize truck.

In 1964, the company selected a font.

In 1970’s retro style wood trim and with interactive games, like Pitfall, Breakout and Space Invaders it showed a new generation of kids the new frontier of entertainment.

In 1982, first-time director Stephen Lisberger’s Tron introduced filmgoers to the Grid — and decades later, Tron has changed the face of film forever in spite of its initial weak box office showing among rave reviews.

In 1995, SP Telecom moved from San Francisco to Denver after acquiring Dallas-based Qwest Communications Corp., a digital microwave system owner, taking over its name and facilities.

In 1997, Maverick Airways was operating code share service for Frontier with de Havilland Canada DHC-7 Dash 7 STOL capable turboprops between Denver (DEN) and two destinations in Colorado: Grand Junction (GJT) and Steamboat Springs (SBS).[83] However, the service was short lived as Maverick encountered financial challenges and then ceased all flights.

In 1997, the Southern Pacific Railroad was merged into the Union Pacific.

In 1999, Frontier signed agreements to begin purchasing and leasing Airbus A318 and A319 jet aircraft and had also added Boeing 737-300 jetliners to its fleet as well.

In 2002, Jørn finally joined the global metal scene fronting the melodic power metal band Masterplan, formed with Roland Grapow and Uli Kusch after both were fired from Helloween.

In 2005, Jørn teamed up with Symphony X vocalist Russell Allen in a singer-duet collaboration on the album The Battle, and their following album, The Revenge, released 11 May 2007.[6] The project is commonly called Allen-Lande and was put together by the president of Frontiers Records, with songwriting duties and most of the instrumentation done by Swedish guitarist Magnus Karlsson.

In 2014, Frontier announced it would be transitioning into an ultra-low cost carrier.[59] Frontier will also cut several flights and jobs at their Denver hub and transition them to different markets.
