Mysterium

Overview of Mysterium

  • Mysterium Tours offers evening walking tours guided by professional Storytellers, Actors, and Narrators in period costuming – guiding visitors and revealing mysteries and curiosities, also telling ghost stories and hauntings, medieval legends and dark tales of the unknown which include Ghosts, Vampires, Serial-Killers, Alchemists, Witches, and mythological creatures…
  • Mysterium Park keeps the original game’s Cluedo-meets-Dixit gameplay at its centre, but is said to be quicker to set up and easier to play thanks to simplified rules, wrapping up in just hour an hour or so compared to Mysterium’s very specific estimated play time of 42 minutes.
  • Mysterium is to Dixit what Arctic Scavengers or Trains was to Dominion- it’s a game that takes one of these never-before-seen ideas, then polishes it up and adds the storytelling that simultaneously praises the original concept and consigns it to the dumpster of history.
  • Mysterium Tours is a company that craft immersive storytelling experiences in form of a evening guided walking tours categorized as Haunted and Ghost Tours served by freelance storytellers, whom come together to present Legends, Tales and Myths from the olden days…
  • Mysterium is inspired by the unfinished work of the same name by Russian Romantic composer Alexander Scriabin, who was influenced by mysticism and imagined a synesthetic musical experience that would incorporate sensations of touch and smell in addition to sound.
  • Mysterium Park is a standalone follow-up to the hit 2015 board game in which the players take the role of psychics attempting to solve the details of a murder, aided by picture clues provided by a silent ghost – who is also one of the players.
  • Mysterium Network acts as a marketplace, its open-source software allows anyone to join the network both as a provider that sells unused network traffic or as a customer that buys VPN service from other Mysterium Network providers.
  • Mysterium Park follows several expansions for Mysterium that added additional cards and gameplay elements to the popular social deduction game, itself a remake of earlier game Tajemnicze Domostwo released in 2013.
  • Mysterium is weird to me, because it's a game that I'm pretty sure is amazing, but it seems to just kind of flop whenever I've gotten it to the table.
  • Mysterium does rely on a decent amount of luck at times though as you can’t win the game if you don’t get the right vision cards at the right times.
  • Network

Individual users can choose from providers located all around the world, allowing them to unblock content, and making them resistant to logging, surveillance and cybercrime. This dVPN plugs into Mysterium’s global network of residential nodes, one of the fastest growing online communities decentralising the web. This open marketplace allows anyone to become a node and rent their unused bandwidth and IP address to those in need.Users pay nodes for providing VPN services in MYST, the network’s native token and reserve currency.

How is Mysterium doing financially? Is this going to bankrupt the convention?

Overall, we’re doing pretty well.Obviously, between refunds and hotel fees, we’re going to take a hit to our funds by moving to an online convention, but thanks to sales and very generous donations from last year we should be fine.

    Is it any good?

You can’t help but think of the board game Clue when playing this app — and that’s deliberate.Mysterium: The Board Game is like an advanced version of that children’s game, designed for an older audience, though it sometimes enrages those same players. The ease of a match largely depends on the other players, since it’s multiplayer-focused.And a bad clue card can easily send you in the wrong direction.

Can We Use One Clairvoyance Token More Than Once in Mysterium?

Have you considered postponing the con until later this year?

We are investigating that option, but we have no useful news about that.

    Should You Buy Mysterium?

Mysterium might not quite live up to its reputation but I thought it was a very good game.Mysterium basically takes your typical whodunit gameplay from Clue and puts a twist on it.Players have to figure out the correct suspect, location, and weapon but all they have to go on are vague clues given by the victim. One player needs to use abstract pictures to get players to guess the correct suspects, locations and weapons and eventually catch the killer.Meanwhile the other players have to analyze these abstract pictures to determine what cards they point towards.I have played quite a few different deduction games and I can honestly say that I haven’t played one quite like Mysterium before. The game is quite creative combining the picture analysis from a game like Dixit with the deduction mechanics of a game like Clue. These two mechanics might not share a lot in common but they work really well together creating a really fun cooperative experience. In the right group the theme as well as the components do a really good job supporting the gameplay.Mysterium does rely on a decent amount of luck at times though as you can’t win the game if you don’t get the right vision cards at the right times. There is also the potential for there to be quite a bit of downtime for the psychic players if the ghost player takes a long time to pick which pictures they will give to the players.

How much will the online convention cost?

As with last year, the online convention will be free! It is likely that t-shirt sales can cover our costs, and we want to make sure the convention is accessible to as many people as possible.

Why not just let the people who feel safe attending do so anyway?

Everyone has their own personal level of acceptable risk. However, the FMG Board (which oversees Mysterium) has a responsibility to do what we feel is best to protect the safety of our attendees and the people they will come in contact with (hotel staff, airline workers, food workers, etc).Given that, and the reasons we listed previously, we feel that the risks are too high to hold an official in-person event right now.

Why aren’t you holding an in-person con?

The Covid-19 pandemic is still too out of control right now, and we simply can’t be sure what the situation will look like in July. It’s possible everyone will be vaccinated and everything will be safe; it’s also possible that vaccine delays will happen, or a more dangerous variant will appear.

What Are The Crow Tokens For in Mysterium?

Crow Tokens are simply markers of how many times the ghost discards a hand of 7 cards in a game.Once a hand is discarded, the ghost uses the marker to signify that on the screen.Only three discards are allowed typically.

Why not wait another month or two to decide?

Logistically, we have to start planning for an online event. That takes time and looks different from on-site planning, so we had to make the switch at some point.

    What is Mysterium Network?

Mysterium Network is building the world’s largest P2P network to power Web 3 privacy applications. An open source, Swiss-based company founded in 2017, Mysterium is rewiring the internet so it’s secure, free and accessible for all.Mysterium held a token sale through which it raised $18 million USD.

Should I cancel my hotel room?

No, you don’t have to cancel your room reservation. The hotel should do that in a few weeks. If somehow it looks like they aren’t going to do so, we will let you know with plenty of time to cancel.

    What Is Mysterium?

Mysterium is a cooperative, theme-based deduction board game that is set in an old town in Scotland. There’s a ghost trapped in the Mysterium Manor from a murder that was never solved in 1890.Players assume the roles of one ghost and several psychics who combine their guessing and interpretation skills to solve clues and find the murderer.

    What’s it about?

In MYSTERIUM: THE BOARD GAME, players act either as the ghost of a murder victim or one of up to six psychics hoping to solve that murder by identifying the murderer, the location of the crime, and the murder weapon. The ghost helps players narrow the suspects by sending the psychics visions, represented in the game by cards. They’re never especially clear and require a lot of guesswork by players.Once the player guesses one element of the crime, they move on to the next.If they guess wrong, the ghost sends additional clues.Players have eight turns to guess all three, after which they must guess the ultimate answer — again using clue cards supplied by the ghost.

    History of Mysterium
