Support
For Sharpay, drama is just as important to her life as basketball is to Troy’s and science is to Gabriella’s.Sharpay is not trying to prevent people from finding the love and joy of theater—she even says that there is always room for supporting roles. She simply disagrees with people being granted leading roles when they barely showed up for the audition and took the whole theater class as a joke.
What’s the story?
After Sharpay (Ashley Tisdale) and her dog, Boi, sing and dance for a local crowd, a casting agent gives her his card and says he’d like to see her in NYC — a Broadway musical called A Girl’s Best Friend needs a star.So of course she’s going to pack her bags and take Daddy’s money to the Big Apple to give it a shot — but then Daddy only gives her one month to succeed.Sharpay is a vision of confidence in pink …until she gets to the audition, only to find out that it’s Boi they’re after, not her. After overcoming disappointment, she figures this could still be her big break, especially if she gets in good with the temperamental star, Amber Lee Adams (Cameron Goodman).Enter Duchess, Boi’s big competition, who has a precocious 12-year-old owner named Roger (Bradley Steven Perry) who will try just about anything — dirty tricks included — to get his dog the part.

Were all of Sharpay’s ruses justified?
We might all still just see Sharpay as the eccentric villain with whom we grew up.However, looking at her character arc with hindsight and this PowerPoint, another theatre student has defended Sharpay as the best reflection of “love and passion for musicals”.Once more, Tisdale supported this interpretation of Sharpay, citing her constant dedication and professionalism in pursuing her dream whilst Troy and Gabrielle pursued an idealised romance that, yes, hooked an entire generation, but also undermined the most hard-working character of the series.Who knows if, seeing her devotion to the character of Sharpay even years later, we’ll see Ashley Tisdale take to the stage again in ‘High School: The Musical: The Series’.

But what if the heroes of High School Musical weren’t really Troy and Gabriella? What if, actually, Troy and Gabriella were the villains of an untold story?
Well, one Twitter user has set out to expose the truth about one of the movie trilogy’s most misunderstood characters: the fabulous Sharpay Evans.
Is it any good?
If young viewers thought Sharpay’s rich-daddy’s-girl antics were fun in High School Musical, seeing her try to make it in NYC will also be a treat. The super-cute pups making eyes at each other is a bonus.Sharpay’s film school romantic interest (Austin Robert Butler) also helps keep her grounded in a sweet way.
