What’s it like inside?
Being an estate car, it really should have a well-shaped boot – and that it does, having a low loading sill and a nice, wide opening. It’s not badly sized either, with 598 litres with the rear seats up.That compares with 640 litres for the Skoda Octavia Estate and 575 for the Ford Focus Estate.
What’s it like to drive?
We’re tempted to say ‘see Toyota Corolla Touring Sports’.But to save you the hassle of clicking off, it’s simple enough to say that the Swace is pleasant to drive, and will surprise you with its keenness of response, and excellent handling and steering.
What models are available?
Prices are a little higher than their Toyota counterparts, and the warranty is a little shorter – but as an upgrade path for existing Suzuki buyers, there’s clear merit here. There are two models to choose from – the entry-level SZ-T and range-topping SZ5, both which come in at less than £30,000.
What’s the Swace like inside?
Inside, the Swace’s dashboard remains largely identical to the Corolla’s, save for the new ‘Suzuki’ badged steering wheel. The Corolla's 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system comes as standard in the Swace with support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, along with wireless smartphone charging. There’s also ambient lighting and heated front seats as part of the package. The Swace has a luggage capacity of 596 litres.
What’s it like on the outside?
The Suzuki Swace’s exterior bears a strong resemblance to the Toyota Corolla but, features its own unique front-end design. This includes a distinctive hexagonal front grille seen on other Suzukis like the Across and a redesigned front bumper. The Swace also gets a different design for its alloy wheels.
What engines are available?
Like all new Suzukis, the Swace is a hybrid. It’s the same 120hp 1.8-litre petrol engine/battery combo as the Corolla with a CVT automatic transmission.Acceleration and performance is excellent considering its potential fuel economy – 0-62mph takes 11.1seconds, and CO2 emissions are stated at 99g/km on the WLTP cycle.
What’s powering the Swace?
The Swace is powered by the 1.8-litre hybrid powertrain also found in the Corolla, which combines a 96hp four-cylinder petrol engine with a 71hp electric motor via a CVT automatic transmission.Total power output is unconfirmed (it's 121hp in the Corolla), although performance is quoted at 11.1sec for the 0-100kph sprint and top speed is 180kph.
What is it?
Like most rebadged products, there will be almost no mechanical change which Suzuki will be bringing in with the Swace.Swace will continue to remain an estate model, directly based upon the Touring Sports variant of the Corolla.
What is the Suzuki Swace?
The Suzuki Swace is essentially a rebadged but, mechanically identical version of Toyota’s Corolla Touring Sports estate. It is a product of the collaborative business agreement between the two Japanese manufacturers. The Swace estate follows the Toyota RAV4-based Suzuki Across SUV that was revealed earlier this year.
What’s the difference between the Swace and the Corolla?
These two cars are extremely closely related, and there’s no getting away from that. But there are some differences – the Swace has a restyled radiator grille, new LED headlamps, and tweaked front and rear bumpers. It’s a subtle makeover.
