Overview of Walton
Walton Charter Academy provides Reading Recovery® services to struggling readers in first grade. This one-on- one instruction, lasts 12-20 weeks and is specifically designed for each student by a Reading Recovery® certified teacher. The goal of the intervention is to help struggling students accelerate their progress so that they can catch up to their peer group in the areas of reading and writing.
Walton died on Sunday, April 5, 1992 (three months shy of Walmart’s thirtieth anniversary), of multiple myeloma, a type of blood cancer,[30] in Little Rock, Arkansas.[31] The news of his death was relayed by satellite to all 1,960 Walmart stores.[32] At the time, his company employed 380,000 people.
Walton didn't merely alter the way America shopped-he changed the philosophy of the American retail business establishment, instigating the shift of power from manufacturer to consumer that has become prevalent in industry after industry.
Walton enters his 19th season at the helm of the program in 2012 and during the 2011 season signed a two-year contract extension to remain head coach of the Colonials through the 2013 campaign, which will be his 20th season at Robert Morris.
Walton led Robert Morris to back-to-back ECAC Bowl victories in 1996 and 1997, and in 1999 and 2000 he guided RMU to a pair of NCAA I-AA mid-major national crowns according to Don Hansen’s National Weekly Football Gazette.
Walton died following surgery for an aneurysm in Miami, Florida, on March 21, 1995, at the age of 73.[3] He is buried in Memorial Park Cemetery in Columbia, Missouri.[1]
Walton’s decade-long NBA playing career with the Lakers (2003-12) and Cleveland Cavilers (2012-13) spanned 564 regular season games averaging 4.7 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.3 assists.
Walton eventually walked away from the scene with his cousin — though the two didn’t get very far, because they ended up in a physical altercation at the back of the Pizza Hut.

In 1932, they bombarded lithium with protons, causing their nuclei to split and producing two alpha particles.
In 1934 Walton returned to Trinity College in Dublin, where he remained for the rest of his active life.
In 1942, at the age of 24, he joined the military.
In 1945, after leaving the military, Walton took over management of his first variety store at the age of 26.[14] With the help of a $20,000 loan from his father-in-law, plus $5,000 he had saved from his time in the Army, Walton purchased a Ben Franklin variety store in Newport, Arkansas.[9] The store was a franchise of the Butler Brothers chain.
In 1950, the Waltons left Newport for Bentonville, where Sam opened Walton’s 5&10 on the downtown square.
In 1983 Walton founded Sam’s Wholesale Club, a chain of deep-discount wholesale warehouse outlets, and in 1988 he began opening Supercenters, which added full grocery fare to the regular merchandise offerings and dwarfed even the barnlike Wal-Mart stores in size.
In 1983, Walton launched the first of his Sam's Wholesale Clubs, which were aimed at small-business owners and others who wished to buy merchandise in bulk.
In 1985, Forbes magazine pronounced him the richest man in America, with an estimated worth of $2.8 billion.
In 1998, Walton was included in Time's list of 100 most influential people of the 20th Century.[34] Walton was honored for his work in retail in March 1992, just one month before his death, when he received the Presidential Medal of Freedom from then-President George H.
In 1999, RMU posted an 8-2 record, a fourth straight NEC championship and a final No.
In 2002, with 13 players in the starting lineup either freshmen or sophomores thanks in large part due to injuries, RMU finished 3-7, then rebounded to post a 6-4 record in its 10th anniversary season in 2003.
In 2004 the Colonials finished with a 6-5 record, and despite a 2005 season in which Robert Morris posted a record of 2-8, the club rebounded to post a record of 7-4 in 2006.
In 2010, Walton added to his legacy by engineering the Colonials on an eight-game winning streak for a share of the NEC regular-season title and the NEC’s first bid in the NCAA FCS Playoffs.
In 2016-17, the Lakers improved from a franchise-worst record by nine games, finishing the season 26-56.
In 2020, Walton gave $5,600 to the Biden campaign and $142,000 to the Democratic National Committee.[8]
