Overview of Bernedoodles

  • Bernedoodles range in size according to what size poodle they have been crossed with (toy, miniature or standard).  In accordance, they can vary all the way from a small 15lbs all the way to a large 80 lbs.  The standard Bernedoodle is geneally 60-75 lbs and stands about 20-23″ at the shoulders.  Bouncing Bernedoodles is specializing in the 45-100 pounds sized Bernedoodles!
  • Bernedoodle Breeder, Bernedoodle Puppies, Mini-Bernedoodle Breeder, Mini-Bernedoodle puppies, Available Bernedoodle puppies, Dooey Doodles, Bernedoodle Breeder in Ontario Our goal was to keep the coloring of the OES in our pups which is gray and white or to create a tricolor pup (black, white and gray).
  • Bernedoodles come in three size ranges based on the exact mix of breeds used: Standard Bernedoodle (Standard Poodle and Bernese Mountain Dog parents), Miniature Bernedoodle (Miniature Poodle and Bernese Mountain Dog parents), and Tiny Bernedoodle (Toy Poodle and Miniature Bernedoodle parents).
  • Bernedoodles come in a variety of colors, these include; black,  black and white bi-color and a variety of sable,  phantom and the classic, tri-colored markings of the Berner (which is the most coveted of the coats). What should I feed my Bernedoodle?
  • A Bernedoodle is also considered to be one of the non-sheadings to low shedding breeds.  These are also known to be allergy-free dogs due to their limited shedding.  People who are allergic to dogs are allergic to the dander they leave behind when they shed.
  • Bernedoodles that shed need regular brushing to removed undercoat, while those with more of a Poodle coat need regular brushing to avoid painful mats from developing on your dog, which can lead to the groomer being forced to shave your seemingly fluffy Bernedoodle.
  • Bernedoodle Puppies with nice temperaments are curious and playful, willing to approach people, be held by them, and generally prefer the company of humans over other dogs.Bernedoodles are a very adaptable breed which is a very good choice for novice owners.
  • Bernedoodles are excellent for families with children, though it’s always important to make sure children are instructed on how to properly treat animals, especially with Tiny and Miniature Bernedoodles that may be injured more easily.
  • Bernedoodles, Borderdoodles, Cairndoodles, Dobedoodles, Cockadoodle, Cavadoodle, Mini Poodle Goldendoodle, Aussiedoodles, Mini Aussie Goldendoodle, Jackerdoodles, Teddy Bear Doodles, Double Doodles, Mini Doodle Double Doodle.…”

Allergies

Bernedoodles with a curly
coat are similar to the Poodle and will not shed. While there are no
guarantees, even if you have serious allergies to dander, you should do well
with a curly-coated Bernedoodle.

Barking

Bernedoodles are also intelligent and easy to train, so if your dog is barking too much, you should be able to train them to bark less.Bernedoodles don’t bark excessively.Unless there is something provoking them to bark, this breed is relatively quiet.

Bloat

For this reason, you’ll want to spit the daily recommended food amount into two smaller servings for Standard Bernedoodles and consider using paced feeder bowls or food puzzles.Mini and Tiny Bernedoodles may also do best when offered two meals each day.Standard Bernedoodles may be prone to bloat, which is when the stomach fills with air and twists to trap it there. This is a life-threatening concern, and while the exact cause is not known, there is an association between eating and large meal and engaging in vigorous exercise.

Breed

While bernedoodles vary in
appearance and coat type, an experienced breeder will be able to give you an
idea of what the pup will look like as an adult, based on what the parents have
produced in the past and what traits they see in the pup.

Cancer

As a breed, the Bernedoodle
is still young, so there is limited information about longevity and health
concerns.At this point,
I can only estimate an average lifespan: I predict Standard Bernedoodles will
live 12-15 years; Mini Bernedoodles up to 17 years; and Tiny Bernedoodles up to
18 years.I have not seen a case of cancer in my
Bernedoodle lines since I started breeding them in 2003, when cancers are so
prevalent in Bernese.Of the hundreds of Bernedoodles I have bred in the past decade,
however, only a few owners have reported a genetic health concern, none of
which has been life-threatening.Therefore, I am confident that hybrid vigor is indeed
creating a healthier dog that will be with you for a long time.Usually, the smaller the dog the longer it lives.

Coat

If your dog spends time in a lot of time outside hiking, running, or swimming, you may want to trim them more often to keep them cool and clean.  The good thing about Bernedoodles is that you do not want to bathe them very often, as this can strip their coats of needed oils.

Energy

1.Elevation – degree of accepting dominance while in a position of no control, such as at the veterinarian or                groomer. 6.Following – willingness to follow a person. 3.If you know a family that will benefit by having a Bernedoodle in their family please contact me directly. Restraint – degree of dominant or submissive tendency, and ease of handling in difficult situations.4.Retrieving – degree of willingness to do something for you.Sight Sensitivity – degree of response to a moving object, such as chasing bicycles, children or squirrels.10.Since we started we have been donating puppies every year to families in need.Social Attraction – degree of social attraction to people, confidence or dependence.   2.Social Dominance – degree of acceptance of social dominance by a person. 5.Sound Sensitivity – degree of sensitivity to sound, such as loud noises or thunderstorms. 9.Stability – degree of startle response to a strange object.  During the testing make a note of the heart rate of the pup, which is an indication of how it deals with stress, as well as its energy level.  Puppies come with high, medium or low energy levels.  You have to decide for yourself, which suits your life style.  Dogs with high energy levels need a great deal of exercise, and will get into mischief if this energy is not channeled into the right direction. We incorporated this method in our Bernedoodle program in 2013 and love the results we are seeing.Together with Social Attraction and Following a         key indicator for ease or difficulty in training.7.Touch Sensitivity – degree of sensitivity to touch and a key indicator to the type of training equipment required.8.We have several past service and therapy Bernedoodles.

Eye Problems

Like any other breed of dog,
they may get cancer.Skin problems, such as hot spots and allergies, are also seen in this mix. While Bernedoodles tend to be
healthier than their parent breeds, they can still be prone to conditions such
as hip and elbow dysplasia and certain eye problems.

Grooming

Even if the Bernedoodle does not shed as much as an advantage, they intend to develop a matting texture on their coats.Hairs will start to build up, making your Bernedoodle fluffier than he or she already is.It’s not always a good thing. Now that we know that the Bernedoodle’s coat is thick, mild shedding, curly or wavy and hypoallergenic, there are other things you need to know as well when it comes to grooming your Bernedoodle. So to prevent such things, here’s what you need to do:While they have such coat attributes, we need to consider what kind of grooming they would need.

Health

Some large dogs will eat a lot of food each day.  Many large breed dogs are known to go through at least one bag of food a week.  Both the Goldendoodle and the Bernedoodle will need a good quality diet to stay healthy.  Neither of these breeds is known to eat tons of food each day.

Infections

When moisture gets in their ear, a bernedoodle’s larger ears restrict airflow.Because of their long ears, watch for infections inside your bernedoodle’s ears. This can result in ear infections if not thoroughly dried.

Life expectancy

Personality

OUR DOGS LIVE IN OUR HOME HERE ON OUR FARM IN OAKLAND, TENNESSEE AND THEY ARE VERY MUCH A PART OF OUR FAMILY.  OUR LIVES REVOLVE AROUND OUR PETS.WE ARE A SMALL BREEDING FAMILY OF BERNEDOODLE PUPPIES WHERE WE BRING THE BEAUTY, LOYALTY, AND OUTSTANDING TEMPERAMENT OF THE BERNESE MOUNTAIN DOG TOGETHER WITH THE INTELLIGENCE, CHARISMA, AND FAITHFULNESS OF THE POODLE, AND YOU END UP WITH A ONE OF A KIND LOVING COMPANION.WE OFFER TRI-COLOR, SABLE TRI-COLOR, PHANTOM, AND BI-COLOR BERNEDOODLE PUPPIES. BERNEDOODLES ARE A LOW TO NO-SHEDD  DOG AND  EACH BERNEDOODLE WILL BE UNIQUE IN COLOR AND PERSONALITY.  OUR SIRES AND DAMS WERE SOUGHT OUT AFTER THEIR PEDIGREE AND TEMPERAMENTS FROM REPUTABLE BREEDERS AND OWNERS.  WE FEEL WE HAVE DONE OUR JOB TO OFFER QUALITY PUPPIES TO THE NEW BERNEDOODLE OWNER.

Temperament

A standard poodle breeder I respect once said, “Look at the parents.I see this question often, and it’s a good one.If the parents are crazy, chances are their offspring will be crazy, too.” So, whether it’s a bernedoodle, labradoodle, or goldendoodle puppy, it matters who their parents are — their temperament, personality, and pedigree…as well as genetic testing to help reduce the chances your pup will inherit a genetic disease. This is my personal opinion, and it really boils down to personal preference with regard to appearance, coat, and personality.

Training

A pretty face will not matter much if you and your puppy do not work well together.Bernedoodles love to be with their families, and they don’t love being left alone for extremely long periods of time.It is amazing to see how much they are like humans. It is always better to get the right temperament puppy for your family over color or gender. Our Bernedoodle pouts when she doesn’t get to go with us.She will go to the truck and try and jump in before we can tell her to stay home. Some of our Bernedoodles even have tears when they know they disappointed us.Temperament is affected by a number of factors including heredity, training, and socialization. They are generally easier than most breeds, and they take to training better and are very easygoing. They are also resilient enough to bounce back from most rearing mistakes, but they need consistency if you want your Bernedoodle to become a well-mannered member of your family. They can at times be sensitive dogs, and they have a strong desire to please their people. They do best with positive reinforcement and reward-based training. Some of our Bernedoodles will let a stern reprimand roll off their backs, while others take even a dirty look to heart. They do not do well with aggressive, harsh training.
