Overview of Dog Breeds

  • Dog breeders in Japan in the 1920s and 1930s created the Japanese Spitz by crossbreeding a number of other Spitz breeds to develop the Japanese Spitz.[5] Breeders began with white German Spitz dogs, originally brought over from northeastern China to Japan; they were first exhibited at a dog show in Tokyo in 1921.[6] Between 1925 and 1936 various small white Spitz breeds were imported from around the world and crossed into the developing breed, with the goal of producing an improved breed.[6] The final Standard for the breed was written after World War II, and accepted by the Japan Kennel Club.[6] The breed gained popularity in Japan in the 1950s, and was exported to Sweden in the early 1950s.

Bulldogs often cannot mate naturally, and many puppies have to be born by cesarean due to the large heads of the puppies.Even if you love English bulldogs (and bulldogs in general), you can’t help but notice that they have health concerns that have to be addressed. Not being able to breathe quickly, i.e.Other problems that plague bulldogs are teeth problems and excessive wrinkling that can lead to infection.pant, means that they are prone to overheating and heat stroke. The primary one is that their shortened noses lead to brachycephalic airway obstructive syndrome. This means that they can’t breathe as well as many dog breeds, leading to their low-energy nature which leads to obesity.

    Health

We know that this page is about purebred dogs and the health issue you should discuss with your local animals, but the fact can’t be ignored that one of the easiest ways to avoid many of the problems we’ve talked about are less likely to occur in an animal from a variety of dog breeds. When more genetic variation is introduced, it’s much less likely that a dog will have these problems.

    Personality

Comparing breed struggles to the Civil Rights movement seems a little extreme and minimalizes the struggles of certain races in history.Dog breeds exist because they are specifically designed for a purpose.Dogs are selectively bred for physical and breed trait aspects.Dogs have been selectively bred for many generations with great success.Humans are not selectively bred and have a choice in their mate.Humans do not reproduce in that manner. In recent years the term breed “racism” had emerged when addressing breed related issues and regulations. It has not been determined that selectively breeding humans would actually work since there has not been any official scientific studies conducted. It is surprising that more people are not offended by this comparison. Most breeds are judged on physical and personality related breed traits, so the term breed “racism” is not equivalent to human forms of racism.Since racism in the human culture is based solely on the color of one’s skin, hence the “race” in racism, and not personality traits, it does not accurately compare to dog breeding. The closest humanity came to selective breeding was the concept of Eugenics, which was trying to breed out negative physical traits, such as mental illness, and breed in positive traits, such as a high I.Q.The comparison of dog breeds and racism has no basis. The concept has been abandoned by most cultures due to the difficulty of selective breeding due to the high incidence of unplanned pregnancies. The concept is if you support dog breed regulations or acknowledge negative breed specific traits it is equivalent to the human form of racism. The error in the concept is that humans and dogs are very different creatures. To accurately compare, one would have to judge a dog based solely on fur color. To make this concept equivalent, humans would have to be purposely bred for certain physical or personality traits over the course of hundreds of years.

    Temperament

Dog breeds are known to vary in cognition, temperament, and behavior, but the neural origins of this variation are unknown. In an MRI-based analysis, we found that brain anatomy covaries significantly with behavioral specializations like sight hunting, scent hunting, guarding, and companionship.Nearly all of the identified variation occurs in the terminal branches of the dog phylogenetic tree, indicating strong, recent selection in individual breeds.Neuroanatomical variation is not simply driven by brain size, body size, or skull shape, and is focused in specific networks of regions. These results indicate that through selective breeding, humans have significantly altered the brains of different lineages of domestic dogs in different ways.

    Training

Furthermore, since it is happiest when it is working with its human companions, it is an ideal breed for first-time pet owners.Smart, charming and good-natured, this dog breed can become a valuable part of your household as long as it given proper training and exercise.
