Peekapoo are known to piling on the pounds, so/however a diet that consists of biologically appropriate protein and healthy fats, ground bone and vegetables packed with the required vitamins and minerals is essential for optimum health and performance.

Peekapoos are typically friendly and active and therefore often get along well with other pets and older children.But because of their lower tolerance for rough-housing, Peekapoos may not always be well-suited for families with toddlers.

The peekapoo is a people-loving breed, so if you shower one with praises, petting and even a little treat when he eliminates, you are giving him the signal that he went in the right place, and he will be more likely to do it again.

Peekapoos usually do quite well with older children and will have no trouble keeping up during outside playtime, but Peekapoo puppies are quite fragile and could be unintentionally but permanently harmed by a small child.

Peekapoo hasn’t gained as much popularity and recognition as a few of the other designer dogs, which include Labradoodle for an example, but he’s won enough of a following in the last decades.

Peekapoo will be fine with a home with a fenced yard, as well, although this breed should be living in a home with air-conditioning, because they can easily overheat thanks to flat-faced pedigree.

Peekapoos may be more vulnerable to dry skin, particularly that caused by food allergies, than a few other breeds, and so it’s important to avoid exacerbating this problem through bathing.

Peekapoos should eat two meals each day, so you’ll want to split their total daily allotment into two portions, one for the morning and one for the evening.

The Peekapoo is an intelligent dog and loves being outside learning new tricks, playing fetch or taking a nature hike or romp around the doggie park.

Allergies

As with all designer dogs, some can still have coats that produce an average amount of shed hair and dander, setting off a person’s allergies.But even though designer “Doodle” dogs aren’t a perfect fit for those with allergies, the intelligent and affectionate Peekapoo steals many hearts and has made his way into a lot of homes and laps.He’s also begun to see success as a therapy dog.Like most designer dogs, the Peekapoo was developed to be a companion for people with allergies.

Barking

Being a companion dog, the peekapoo would always try to be with you, and if kept regularly separated for longer periods of time, they might suffer from separation anxiety, ultimately leading to excessive barking and chewing habits.

Breed

Because of this, it is free from any apparent inherent diseases, while some still happen because the health ultimately depends on how the parents are being selected.Because of this, they do not breed two individual Peekapoos.One of the possible reasons for the popularity of this breed is that some breeders of designer dogs try to develop formal breed, while the breeders of Peekapoo completely believe that the best Peekapoos hybrid breed is still the one that serves that a cross breed between a pure Pekingese and a pure poodle.There is no organization that supports this breed in order for it to be recognized as a breed.

Coat

While many of the exact details of the Peekapoo’s early history are unknown, we do know that the mixed breed was developed in the 1950s with the hopes of creating an adorable mix who would inherit the hypoallergenic coat of the Poodle and the compact body and broad face of the Pekingese.

Dental Disease

A Peekapoo will also need to have his teeth brushed a few times each week to prevent plaque and tartar from building up and causing dental disease.Check your Peekapoo’s ears as well for any redness, odor, or dirt.These could be signs of an ear infection and will indicate that you need to bring your Peekapoo into the vet.Use a pH-balanced ear cleaner to keep the ears clean and prevent ear infections from happening.You should also make sure to regularly trim their nails to keep them from getting too long and making it painful to walk.
