Overview of Springadors
Breed
A Springador’s coat varies in length and depends on which breed they have more of, and if you end up with one that has long hair, you will need to keep it in good condition for your pup to be happy.
Cancer
After losing my first Springador to cancer I knew the day would come when I would find another.Attentive, smart and as loyal as the day is long.Attentive, smart and as loyal as the day is long.Daily walks and a lot of hunting during the season are needed.Definitely not for the person looking for a couch potato.I can recommend none better.I cannot say enough about this mix.Mine will be 2 in October and still has ton of energy.New Years Day 2019 I found one out in PA.The breeder had no idea what he had.Wondered why he had someone coming from 8 hours away.
Coat
Along with exercise requirements, you’ll want to pay special attention to the Springador’s ears. Also talk to your vet about brushing the dog’s teeth, which should ideally be brushed daily. The dog’s nails will also need trimming–once every fortnight should do the trick. The main colors that the coat of the Springador comes in are black, brown, and gold.Wash them weekly with a damp cloth and look out for any signs of infection or a build up of dirt.
Energy
As with all dogs, the Springador’s dietary needs will change from puppyhood to adulthood and will continue to change into their senior years. You should ask your veterinarian for recommendations about your Springador’s diet, as there is far too much variation among individual dogs–including weight, energy, and health–to make a specific recommendation.
Grooming
It’s a great opportunity to bond and show them the affection they show you on a daily basis.Springadors enjoy grooming time as they get to be with you.
Health
As you will see, there are many health conditions that the Springador is susceptible to, but the good news is that most of these can be tested for and, in some cases, resolved so that you can focus on your pet rather than their health.
Infections
If you fail to groom a Springador regularly, they will lose their naturally shiny oat and get matted ears that are prone to nasty infections.
Personality
When it comes to the personality of the Springador, you are sure to be overwhelmed by how fantastic this dog is to live with.
Social
Many Springador owners choose to put their puppies or dogs into professional classes.Springadors are very high energy dogs that are even more so as puppies, therefore, early socialization and training may be difficult for a first time owner. These dogs are very bright and are eager to please. These loving, happy dogs are also sensitive so plenty of patience and a calm demeanor will be necessary. They are natural hunters, athletes, and even can be trained to become therapy dogs.
Temperament
If trained for basic commands and socialized at this young age, they make lively companions, hunting partners and even therapy dogs. The Springador temperament can vary among individuals, even if from the same litter, based on what characteristics they inherit and from which parent they inherit them. These dogs also make excellent exercise buddies and can easily keep up with you on your daily walks, runs, bike rides, and hikes– plus they even enjoy swimming! They are very intelligent and eager to please, however, it may be hard to keep a Springador puppy’s attention during training and professional classes may be necessary after the puppy stage. They may quickly become bored and destructive if not allowed to spend the majority of the time with the owner or family.
